Long time no update… All I can say is that since the last time I updated I aquired two extraordinarily cute kittens and they made my brain go all explodey. I picked up my pencil yesterday in an attempt to start laying out the next few pages and realized that while playing with my little furballs I didn’t practice drawing at all so Paige and Oscar don’t look like themselves. Give me a couple days to work on that and then I’m going to start trying to update on Fridays.

About this page: Here we go again with the daisies. All hand drawn, all 100% annoying. And all the shojo bubbles, whatever posessed me to draw a comic that could have shojo bubbles I will never know, but they turned out okay. Only about two more pages to go in this storyline before we get on with the plot. Okay, so plot is optional. Let’s just say we’ll get on with it, whatever it is. I’m also going to be experimenting a bit with my drawing style so don’t freak out if Pointedly Foolish starts to look funny.
PS. I really like the drawing of Paige there in the top right.

I must say that there is something about the tilt of Paige’s head that makes her an absolute terror. The longer I look at this picture the more I feel relieved that Paige and Oscar are only two dimensional because I would never want to be on the receiving end of a stare like that. The table is all out of proportion and I sure as hell can’t draw high heels from behind. But I am altogether satisfied with the way this drawing turned out.

Finally done! I know it doesn’t look like it would have taken me two weeks to finish, but sadly it did. I’m going to be very happy when the senseless beating up of bodyguards ends, those suits are hella eye-crossing to tone and I just can’t seem to draw enough of them to show the real carnage. I mean, how do you draw a pile of unconscious security guards who are clones of some square-jawed rhinoceros. HUMBUG! In other news, I am happy to say that starting next Tuesday we should be settling back into our regularly scheduled updates. I’ve already laid out next weeks comic, I just have to draw the final draft, etc. Not too much left in this line of the story, as I’m sure you can tell, so just hold on a little longer for some not-Austen-obsessed plottage for all you non-fans (you poor, sad creatures). I’ll be scanning some sketches soon, my computer is being a slug or I would do it now, for your amusement. And I have big plans for a site overhaul because I’m actually not a big fan of it at present.

By the way, I really like drawing Oscar angry. Too bad it’s a rare occurance.

See you next week…

Nice shots with the teabags! With a couple of leaps and bounds and projectiles, Oscar has deftly eliminated three of the incoming swarm. Can she keep up the ass-kicking? And what’s the importance of showing the time in the first panel? I BET YOU WANNA KNOW! Well, you’ll just have to stay tuned.

When did I start sounding like a cheesy movie tagline? By the way, I just want you to know that I drew all those ’speedlines’ by hand with a ruler. Even the ones in the background of Oscar’s closeup. I just wish you could see the original in all it’s cripsness, computer monitors seem to fuzz the lines a bit to make them easier to see, which is a bit uncool. So now do you see why it took me so long to ink and tone it? There’s so much going on, especially in the first panel. And now I have to make another one for next week!? Why did we decide to make this an action comic?!! ARGH!!! Actually, I’m having a lot of fun. I’ve never drawn perspective or action shots very well and I’m learning how to do it right. Later on I’ll scan some of my practice sketches of Oscar kicking butt and taking names, but right now I need to make some tea.

Margaret, signing off….

Yes people. It has become apparent to me that I will not finish the next page of PF tonight. Not nearly. I started penciling it on Friday and I only just finished (and i’m still not entirely satisfied, but it has been a learning experience). You have no idea how many times I erased and redrew the right half of the first panel, the whole third and fourth… now i’m whining. Anyways, I have to ink it and tone it and it’s going to eat my brains. But I promise it shall go online late tomorrow. Yes, I am lame and pathetic and not worthy and this page IS SO GONNA KICK ASS.
